Director of Recreation, Permits & Special Events - Job Code RPS-40

Hudson River Park Trust is a partnership between New York State and City charged with the design, construction and operation of the five-mile Hudson River Park.

Hudson River Park is the largest open space project to undergo construction in Manhattan since the completion of Central Park.

As a public benefit corporation, Hudson River Park Trust is governed by a thirteen-member Board of Directors. The Trust employs a focused, diverse staff with experience in parks, design, finance, public policy, operations and maintenance.

 

Position: Director of Recreation, Permits & Special Events

 

 

Qualifications:  BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related fieldThree to five years of special event, sports management and/or operations experienceStrong organizational and administrative skills, and the ability to manage multiple projectsEnthusiastic team member with strong written and verbal communications skillsAbility to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed

 

Job Duties:Oversee all park-wide recreation facilities including permit scheduling for multiple sports fields and operation of HRPT Skate ParksManage year-round park permitting, including film/photo shoots, special events, concerts and other entertainment-based eventsSupervise logistics and operations for all guest events held on park propertyLiaise with Operations & Maintenance Department and Parks Enforcement to ensure clean, safe and proper park use Administer contracts with park vendors including various food & beverage concessionairesHire and manage 10-15 person staff of year-round and seasonal Recreation EmployeesSeek and fulfill park-wide sponsorship opportunities

 

Working Hours:

37.5 hours per week, except during events season (May - September) when hours increase as needed to over 50 hours per week at times.

Up to two weeks of comp time can be claimed per year

Paid time off (vacation, sick and personal time), paid holidays, medical from day one, free dental and vision after 6 months, and participation in the New York State Retirement Benefits and Deferred Compensation programs (with certain benefits available upon completion of the introductory period).

 

Compensation:

$60,000 a year
