Production Artist

Prepares graphic files for print across all packaging print platforms, while maintaining the integrity of the content, art, design, and brand. Primary responsibilities include editing files in Adobe CS3, especially Illustrator, to meet customer requirements, maintaining a positive attitude and a sense of urgency, expressing clear communications and utmost professionalism in all interactions, and focusing on customer satisfaction. ? Pre-flight or review of externally supplied files Assist in workflow & production planning? Layout, design and reformat graphic files (usually in Adobe Illustrator) to print specifications, customer requirements, print limitations and government regulations ? Layout new and existing packaging graphics with the instruction of style guides and other documents directing design? Integrate translated copy? Create and maintain design documents & style guidesQualifications? Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator CS2 and/or CS3 required? 3+ years of prior packaging artwork and layout experience preferred? Familiarity with various design and editing software including other Adobe CS3 applications, Acrobat Professional, Font Agent Server, Freehand, Corel Draw and Quark preferred? Familiarity with the principles, practices and techniques of digital art, graphic design, layout and illustration.? Familiarity with packaging structures, including packaging design and film structures and layouts for bags, boxes, cartons, labels, etc. is essential ? Familiarity with bar code preparation and application? Solid understanding of prepress and print specifications for Litho, Flexo, and Gravure? Knowledge and application of packaging machinery, press marks and press specifications? Familiarity with use of DAM (digital asset management), including asset creation and database management? Understanding of brand management?
